“Delighted with the new air-conditioning system for our old church community centre. The old infrared heating took 12 hours to heat up, this one heats it in 2hrs plus we can now cool it for busy events. We can pre-programme the heating to turn itself on and off before and after events which saves us time and money”

Very happy with the system, it’s a lot warmer and faster to heat up than our old one! Very good people to work with, no hesitation in recommending Climate Control.

Pleasant level of warmth that’s constant throughout the house and an instant supply of hot water that is heated economically. Good people to deal with.

Frequently Asked Questions

Wondering what HVAC solutions is right for your?
You asked and we answered!

Does Underfloor Heating take long to heat up?

This depends on the depth and type of screed used by the standard 70mm sand cement screed should heat up from cold in 4-5 hrs. The temperature should then be maintained within about 5 degrees of the normal running temperature throughout the heating season and not be allowed cool fully

Does a heat pump require backup by an oil boiler or immersion?

No, the heat pump is a standalone system and does not require any backup

Does a heat pump provide hot water as well as heating?

The heat pump will take care of all of your domestic hot water needs as well as space heating

Does a heat pump cost a lot to run?

Heat pumps have received some bad press over running costs but this is almost always down to the installation of the heat pump rather than an issue with the heat pump itself. Using an experienced installer like Climate Control takes away that risk and you can be safe in the knowledge that your system will perform as promised.

What if I want to change the floor covering with underfloor heating?

Changing floor coverings does not present any problems but if you are unsure you can contact us any time and we will be happy to advise you.

How will you work with my builder?

Whether you are working with a builder or conducting a self build, we will arrange a meeting to ensure that both parties are fully aware of system locations, time schedules etc so as to avoid any confusion.

Air to Water or Ground source?

The answer to this is almost always ground source. There are a few specific instances where Air source will perform better but they are the exception rather than the rule. Air source units take their energy from the air and therefore as air temperature drops so does the performance and output. Air source units also need to go through a defrost cycle to remove moisture that has frozen to the coil of the outdoor unit and inhibits the units performance. This requires the unit to operate in reverse cycle, cooling the inside and heating the outdoor unit until the ice is cleared. Ground source units have none of these issues to contend with and the ground temperature remains stable regardless of weather conditions. Running costs are therefore lower and the lifecycle is also significantly longer.

Will the system airlock?

The system will be fitted with automatic air elimination valves so should air enter the system it should usually escape through these valves. If not, clearing the airlock is a relatively simple procedure.

How big an area do I need for the collector, for a Ground source system?

The area depends on the size of the house, but a rule of thumb is 1 and a quarter times the floor area of your house. Contact us for the exact dimensions for your heat pump.

What about leaks with underfloor heating?

The system is pressured tested before screeding and remains under pressure while screeding takes place. This will reveal instantly if any pipes have been damaged and they can be repaired before the screed solidifies. Damage occurring to pipes is a very rare occurrence as they are very resilient.
